Cambridge English Pre A1 Starters
Pre A1 Starters is the first level of Cambridge English exams, designed especially for children who are beginning to learn English. Ideally, children should take this exam at the end of the first year of primary school. If a child can read and write and is prepared for the exam, they can take it even earlier.
The test assesses the basic ability to understand and use English in simple, everyday situations. Children encounter topics that are familiar to them – family, school, friends, home, animals, food, or free time.
What children learn
- understand simple questions and instructions,
- introduce oneself and talk about basic topics,
- use basic vocabulary,
- to understand simple text,
- write simple words and sentences,
- communicate in everyday situations.
